REP 1 Negotiates over $100 million in March 2007
3/29/07
In the month of March alone, REP 1 negotiated over $100 million in combined player contracts, with over $30 million fully guaranteed to clients. OG Leonard Davis, WR Kevin Curtis, Safety Kevin Kaesviharn and FB Terrelle accounted for the entire guaranteed dollars.
Leonard Davis was the second overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. After six seasons in Arizona, Leonard became one of the hottest free agents on the open market. A multi-team bidding war led to a record-breaking contract with the Dallas Cowboys – $18.75 million in guaranteed money, the most ever for a veteran offensive lineman, and a $16 million signing bonus, the largest amount ever given in Cowboys history. Best of all, Leonard was able to return to his native Texas, fulfilling a childhood dream of playing for his hometown team.
Eight days into free agency, wide receiver Kevin Curtis decided to make an agent change, and hired REP 1 Sports to represent him. Curtis spent his first four NFL seasons in St. Louis as the No.3 receiver behind Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt. After intense negotiations, he landed a 6-year, $32 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles and a spot in the starting line-up.
Kevin Kaesviharn’s unlikely path to the NFL resulted in a 4-year, $10 million contract with the New Orleans Saints. Kaesviharn was a standout safety at Division II Augustana College in South Dakota before joining the AFL’s Iowa Barnstormers for two seasons. He played one season in the now defunct XFL and was released by the Green Bay Packers in his first NFL training camp. Later that season in 2001, he was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals, and became a key figure in the secondary and on special teams for six seasons.
Hard-hitting fullback Terrelle Smith returned to his college town on a 2-year, $1.8 million dollar with the Arizona Cardinals. Smith was a 4th round selection out of Arizona State by the New Orleans Saints in 2000, and played 2 seasons in Cleveland. He has been the lead blocker for 1,000 yard rushers in six of his seven NFL seasons.
REP 1 negotiated three other contracts in March 2007, accumilating the second highest total contract dollars and guaranteed money for its clients of any football agency.
